2wcom Products Support Digital Transitions

2wcom says its 4audio product line is designed to support broadcasters in the integration process of old and new networks as they update their technology toward a more modern work environment. The 4audio series includes products for AoIP, MPX over IP, Satellite, DAB+ and FM/RDS.

The IP-8m eight-channel AoIP codec, one of 2wcom’s recently released products, allows for the transmission of eight digital mono-channels in phase-locked mode. It lets stations broadcast live content in stereo and surround sound.

According to the company, the codec has multiformat audio coding and is suitable for audio broadcast applications like live concerts and studio-to-studio connections. It supports various audio algorithms, including Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, PCM, E-aptX and AAC.

Software and hardware components are customizable, with the channels scalable from one to four through licensing.

For the broadcaster who is planning on switching to DAB+, 2wcom offers the 4audio DAB-4c. DAB-4c is a high-density converter with DAB Dual Tuner for monitoring.

Configurable via web interface or remotely via SNMP trap, the device offers real time statistics and monitoring of the main DAB+ parameters. It also provides for on air monitoring at transmitter sites via an optional integrable DAB tuner.

The company notes that its codecs, encoders and software solutions in the 4audio IP series are equipped to process RDS/UECP data, bridging the old FM/RDS and the new all-IP world. Users can receive RDS/UECP commands via RS232 or IP and then transport them together with the audio as ancillary data. Otherwise, the RDS/UECP data can be transmitted in separate PIDs. They can also monitor UECP commands in decoded as well as raw data mode.
