Broadcast digital audio technology developer Super Hi-Fi has teamed up with broadcast processing developer Orban to create a customized version of Orban’s OptiMod 5950 rackmounted radio broadcast processor aimed for use with Super Hi-Fi’s recently introduced HLS+ streaming technology.

According to the announcement from Super Hi-Fi, “This first-ever, all-in-one appliance is designed to replace racks of playout equipment, audio processing, PPM encoding, and metadata servers in a single 1U rackspace, and represents the companies’ shared commitment to building a modern infrastructure and ecosystem for radio.”

The meaty details are: “The Orban OptiMod 5950: Super Hi-Fi Edition is designed to work seamlessly with Super Hi-Fi’s HLS+ radio streaming technology, ensuring that radio stations can deliver perfect-sounding broadcasts along with accurate metadata, while offering interactive and personalized versions of those exact same broadcasts through mobile apps, smart speaker integrations and web clients.”
