Console builder Solid State Logic has always been a believer in MADI, Multichannel Audio Digital Interface, technology. So much so that it has continued to be a developer of the technology. If you use MADI networking and want the best and latest, SSL probably has it.
The latest on that front is the SSL UMD192, a half-rack digital audio interface that also speaks Dante and USB, while offering a high-end 192 kHz sample rate. A release plainly states, “This makes it ideal for bridging multiple MADI-connected devices into a Dante network, or for high-channel-count recording and playback via USB 3.0.”
A bonus is that it is brand agnostic though it has some features designed for Solid State Logic products.
The UMD192 can operate via power over Ethernet.
Specs offer 192 audio channels at 44.1/48 kHz or 192 channels at 88.2/96 kHz or 128 channels at 176.4/192 kHz. It probably doesn’t have to be said but it is Mac and Windows compatible for network operation and interfacing with DAWs.
Anyone attending the NAMM Show in Los Angeles or the ISE 2026 show in Barcelona can get a sneak peek.
