Spinner acquires RFS broadcast IP

Spinner, RFS

German radio frequency products specialist Spinner has acquired the intellectual properties of RFS’ dormant broadcast products section.

A big takeaway on that is “This will allow previous customers of RFS Broadcast an opportunity to be supported going forward,” according to a release.

RFS can trace its existence all the way back to the early days of development in insulated wiring technology in the beginning of the last century and it was a leading technology developer in the post-World War II explosion of RF transmission support products such as coaxial cables and transmission lines. It also moved into manufacturing broadcast antennas.

More recently the company had abandoned the broadcast market in favor of industrial and indoor RF connectivity products.

Munich-based Spinner develops and manufactures RF components and systems for many applications. For broadcasters it has filters, combiners and various other transmission support products for TV, analog and DAB along with an interest in 5G broadcast.
