The Society of Broadcast Broadcast Engineers has announced its slate of award winners for 2026. The winners will be recognized at the SBE 2026 National Meeting, Sept. 15–16 in Middleton, Wisc.
Former WVIT TV (New Britain, Conn.) engineer, the late Joseph A. DiMaggio, will be named Robert W. Flanders SBE Engineer of the Year. DiMaggio spent over 47 years with the station.
The 2026 James C. Wulliman SBE Educator of the Year is Jerry Brown. He was involved in the creation of the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters Broadcast Technology Academy. The academy aims to recruit and train young communications technology engineers.
The SBE Technology Award will go to antenna manufacturer Dielectric for its RingMaster FM antenna family.
And the Facility Innovation of the Year will be claimed by John-Erick M. Rempillo of the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. for his Testing Kit On The Go. The announcement said, “It enables safe, off-site diagnosis and repair of faulty power supplies in the CBC’s [Nautel] NV and VS series transmitters, eliminating the risks of live-system troubleshooting.” Apparently it has already paid dividends.
