Audio processor maker Orban has announced the release of an upgrade to its MX limiting technology used in the OptiMod 5950 and OptiMod 5950 HD processors.
Called MXneo, “The upgrade retains the “punch” and loudness performance of MX with substantial improvements in distortion behavior,” according to the announcement.
The release also explains, “For contemporary material such as pop, rock and similar formats, MXneo significantly reduces audible midrange distortion that could occur with harder-driven processing. It also improves HF distortion performance, particularly on material with a high amount of high-frequency harmonic content relative to its upper-midrange energy.”
Furthermore, “With MXneo users can directly shape the tradeoff between distortion, loudness, punch and HF energy — parameters that were previously fixed within the MX algorithm. Factory presets for MX limiting have also been recalibrated to take full advantage of the new capabilities.”
There’s also available a less-aggressive Classical Music Mode for wide-dynamic range material.
It will be a free upgrade for current owners of those processors.
