Attention broadcast studio engineers, Wheatstone is putting together a series of webinars aimed at personnel living in the AoIP world. The Studio Master Class series starts Sept. 24 and runs almost weekly through Oct. 29. Wheatstone says these are geared for “DOEs and CEs as well as GMs and operations managers and their IT support teams.”
First out of the box is “AoIP Best Practices, Switches, and Other Essentials,” Sept. 24, and hosted by Wheatstone Senior Systems Engineer Kelly Parker. He’ll discuss “best practices for network layout, switch requirements, cabling basics, and the essentials of the modern broadcast studio. Covered are large and small studio facilities, existing or new.”
Oct. 1 brings TOC Checklist and Studio Trends. The tease page says, “Team Wheat and tech partners discuss the essential TOC checklist for reducing rackspace and maintenance as well as the latest studio trends, including visual/camera automation, virtual screens, and more.”
Webinar 3 is “Connecting Locations and Systems,” Oct. 8. This one will “discuss bandwidth, linear vs. codec, and other considerations for connecting studio locations, plus integrating automation, SIP phones and other systems.”
Oct. 15 offers “Touchscreens and Soft Tools.” The session pitch says, “Two [Wheatstone] ScreenBuilder power users demonstrate how to add to your existing facility using touchscreens. Team Wheat also covers soft tools such as server licenses to allocate resources on demand, routable utility mixers to automate functions, and scripting to do more with limited staff, space, and budget.”
After skipping a week, Oct. 29 sees another detailed session, “Streaming, Leveling Up.” The summary says, “Team Wheat and streaming experts discuss provisioning streams as an integral part of the native AoIP network. Discussed are PC vs Linux appliance, audio processing for optimum reach across any link, and adapting metadata from playback automation to CDN in one simple workflow.”
The sessions run 2–3 p.m. Eastern time/8–9 p.m. Central European time.
Full descriptions and how to sign up can be found here.
Wheatstone adds that those who attend all five get a Wheatstone baseball cap.
