It’s no secret that modern IP technology is the gift that keeps on giving.

For example, Wheatstone has a little case study of WheatNet IP monitoring via the company’s IP Meters app. The subject was WheatNet IP-linked production studios of The Station of the Cross Catholic Media Network, an 18-station radio group based in Buffalo, N.Y.

A summary said, IP Meters “monitors every source, every destination, every signal in the nonprofit’s three live production studios serving its 24/7 network of talk shows, scripture studies, live call-in shows and devotionals.”

But, besides merely monitoring, IP Meters can initiate prescribed failover action in the case of silence detection.

The Station of the Cross Catholic Media Network Director of Production and Technology Michael Buttino is quoted, “If something crashes, we’ll know it. In general, WheatNet resources have been solid with minimal downtime since installing the WheatNet IP system in 2021.”

He added, “I’m constantly monitoring. I like visually seeing things, but now with this new version, I can jump from studio to studio and do a sound check from my phone.”
