Ed Sheeran Kicks off “De Warmste Week”

BRUSSELS — On Monday, Oct. 4, Ed Sheeran held an exclusive concert at Belgian Dutch-language public broadcaster VRT’s Studio 5 in preparation of “De Warmste Week” (“Warmest Week”).

During the session, Sheeran shared songs from his new album “=,” and spoke to VRT journalist Siska Schoeters about the theme of this year’s week-long event, “Kunnen zijn wie je bent” (“Be as You Are”).

The station recorded the special program and will air it during De Warmste Week, which takes place Dec. 18–24on VRT’s TV Eén channel in a TV-special.

Proceeds from De Warmste Week go to a fund managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, which has been specially set up to support projects that fit in with this theme and encourage tolerance and equality.

Thanks to Sheeran’s showcase and support from his fans the 2021 event had already drawn in more than €108,000 as of press time.

De Warmste Week is a joint charity campaign organized by VRT’s radio stations Studio Brussel and MNM.

The solidarity week was launched as “Music for Life” in 2006, the 2019 edition raised some €17.5 million for various projects.
