FBS Radio Network’s FM station DWLL in metropolitan Manila, better known as Mellow 94.7, has pumped up its signal with the installation of a Broadcast Electronics ETX 25000 transmitter.

The ETX 25000 provides 25 kW of broadcast power.

BE’s Philippine partner TechTwist Corp. oversaw the project with Ergaxia Philippines doing the installation.

Gerald Cabrillos of Ergaxia-Philippines gives a thumbs up to the new Broadcast Electronics ETX 25000 at Manila’s Mellow 94.7. Five 4RU power amps, at 5 kW each, along with an exciter and a control unit make up the full package.

Initial leading concerns for any new transmitter in Manila are the hot and humid climate along with energy usage. TechTwist Corp.’s Peter L. Olase said, “The climate of Manila makes the reduction of air conditioning loads and energy consumption of the radio station critically important. BE’s ETX delivers ultrahigh energy efficiency and long-term cool operation, which substantially lowers cooling and electricity costs for Mellow 94.7.”

Installer Gerald Cabrillos of Ergaxia-Philippines, pictured, said, “The compact design of the ETX line allowed for 25 kW of power in a single cabinet which made it much smaller than other options. The installation was straight forward, and the transmitter was simple to operate and sounded great on the air”

Broadcast Electronics President, and COO Rich Redmond said, “The new ETX line offers excellent energy efficiency, a digital direct-to-channel FM modulator and ultrareliable highly efficient hot-pluggable power supplies to deliver the maintainability and robustness at an exceptional price.”
