The air in southern Illinois might just be a cleaner these days. The RF air that is.

Noncommercial WDBX(FM) in Carbondale has upgraded its transmitter to an Elenos ETG3500 for a stronger and better sound, according to an announcement for Broadcast Electronics, an Illinois-based transmitter maker that is Elenos’ face in the U.S.

WDBX Operations Manager James Helfrich explained, “When it was time to replace our aging transmitter, we shopped around quite a bit on medium power compact transmitters.” He added, “Set-up was a breeze. In this first summer of operation, we experienced an average of 30% or more in energy saving from unit operation and associated reduction in cooling cost. Paired with a new Inovonics 272 processor, our signal is stronger and has never sounded so good.”

Helfrich was also complimentary on the overall acquisition process, “From beginning to end, the process of purchasing through installation and operation has been effortless. The staff at BE, and in particular Ben Marth, the salesman have been outstanding in support, even taking the extra step of hand delivering the unit to us.”
