Telos Alliance and Super Hi-Fi have announced a partnership they say will improve radio broadcasting by enhancing efficiency and reducing workloads.
The collaboration centers around LiveConnect, a new high-fidelity live-over-IP protocol with advanced control features that links traditional live radio shows with cloud-based production systems. It can be used in live broadcast mode or for voice-tracked shows, offering broadcasters more flexibility while reducing costs and complexity.
LiveConnect will ensure a seamless connection between Telos Alliance products like the Axia Quasar and Altus mixing consoles and Super Hi-Fi’s cloud-based Program Director. It will allow broadcasters to go live from any location to any station anytime, increasing flexibility and reducing the need for physical studio spaces.
“Live radio is still the most listened-to audio delivery system in the world,” said Zack Zalon, CEO of Super Hi-Fi. “This partnership will give broadcasters full control over when and where they broadcast, blending live radio with AI-driven cloud services.”
Marty Sacks, executive vice president of sales, marketing and strategy at Telos Alliance, emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation. “We’ve watched how radio has evolved. By partnering with Super Hi-Fi, we can help broadcasters deliver better content to more listeners while reducing the workload of creators.”
AI-powered broadcasting
The partnership focuses on using AI to assist, not replace, on-air talent. “AI has been viewed negatively in radio because it has made a personal medium feel impersonal,” Sacks said. “LiveConnect is an example of how AI can enhance radio for both stations and listeners.”
Zalon added, “LiveConnect will enable radio talent to focus on creative tasks rather than mechanical ones. It benefits station operators, managers, and talent alike.”
The LiveConnect service will begin testing with select customers in early 2025, with broader availability expected later that year. Telos Alliance will also showcase LiveConnect at Stand 8.D37 at IBC2024 in Amsterdam, Sept. 13–16.
