Platform Media has merged with Listen Entertainment and Goldhawk Productions to form what it describes as the U.K.’s leading content supergroup. The move consolidates expertise across immersive audio storytelling, video podcasting, branded entertainment and social media into a single production and monetization business.
The three companies had already worked under parent company PodX for nine months. Listen Entertainment Managing Director Josh Adley and Platform Media CEO Matthew Sherry will take over as co-CEOs to lead the expanded group into its next phase.
According to Platform Media, its services have helped turn popular podcasts into revenue-generating digital brands, with one show alone bringing in £3 million annually. The company reports over 70% growth in the past year and says its combined revenues are now in the eight-figure range.
Platform Media says its integrated 360° approach has redefined the commercial potential of podcasting, offering clients in-house production, media, marketing and monetization under one roof. The merger will also allow each content label to focus on its niche.
“This merger is the natural next step, and we’re ready to make a lasting impact,” said Sherry. “We’ve pioneered a unique monetization model that is leading the industry forward.”
Adley added, “Matthew and I have been trying to find ways to work more closely for years, underpinned by independently having the same vision for the future of the podcast industry.”
Now operating from new offices in Farringdon, London, the 80-person company is preparing to launch a new lineup of original content in sport and entertainment this autumn.
