Nautel says it has enhanced its VX FM transmitter series with internal audio playout and plans to add streaming support soon. The VX Series, covering power levels from 150 W to 6 kW, has now shipped more than 1,000 units.
According to the company, the transmitters now include a built-in audio player and playlist functionality. Users can upload content locally or remotely over IP, eliminating the need for USB drives, site visits or additional hardware. The internal player can act as a loss-of-audio backup source and is already available for new and existing VX units.
Nautel says the next planned enhancement is internal streaming support with Icecast and Shoutcast compatibility, which is expected in the coming months. Combined with the Orban Inside audio processing, these updates are designed to expand broadcasters’ deployment options.
John Whyte, head of marketing and product strategy at Nautel, said, “We are appreciative of the major endorsements of the VX Series by customers around the world, including some large N+1 deployments.” He added that the built-in audio player — first introduced in Nautel transmitters over a decade ago — remains a popular feature and reflects the company’s commitment to ongoing product improvements.
Whyte also pointed to the company’s North American manufacturing, strong support and long-term parts availability as key reasons broadcasters choose Nautel.
Nautel will be at booth W2809 at the 2025 NAB Show.
