Summ’it aims to connect audiences through audio storytelling
Commercial Radio & Audio says Australian commercial radio continues to reach 12.8 million people each week, according to the latest GfK Metro Survey 3, 2026 results. The audience figure is unchanged from the previous survey and represents a 350,000-listener increase compared with the same period last year, according to CRA.
The latest results follow the strong performance reported in Survey 2, when commercial radio also reached 12.8 million Australians weekly. At the time, CRA said the medium had recorded its highest cumulative audience since GfK measurement began.
CRA said commercial radio has now maintained weekly audiences above 12 million for nearly four consecutive years. The organization also reported audience growth across breakfast, daytime and drive programming, as well as growth across all demographic groups and listening locations.
Lizzie Young, chief executive officer at CRA, said, “In uncertain times, audiences turn to what they trust. Week after week, listeners choose commercial radio for news, entertainment and connection. That consistency matters. It gives brands the opportunity to reach Australians at scale while building the kind of trusted relationships that drive long-term results.”
CRA also highlighted research it says demonstrates radio’s effectiveness for advertisers. The organization said brands receive $2 for every $1 invested in radio advertising and that audio can strengthen pricing performance when included in advertising campaigns.
The organization further pointed to its Audio ID initiative, which it says enables advertisers to plan, buy and measure audio campaigns with greater precision and transparency.
