SwissRadioDay 2025 to explore future strategies for resilient radio
Ferncast has released aixtream 3.10, introducing improvements in redundancy, standards compliance and format support. Ferncast says the latest update enhances the platform’s reliability and performance, adding new features for broadcasters and audio professionals.
The update fully complies with SMPTE ST 2022-7, a standard for redundant audio reception and delivery over IP. This ensures maximum packet security and reduces the risk of audio dropouts. It also supports dual RTP redundancy, delivering redundant streams from identical or different network sources and improving resilience against physical network failures.
The release also introduces support for CMAF (Common Media Application Framework), which enables unified streaming of HLS- and DASH-formatted media. This simplifies broadcaster workflows and ensures compatibility across a wide range of devices, reducing the need for multiple stream configurations.
Ferncast says other improvements in aixtream 3.10 include:
- Enhanced loudness control options through ngLC (Next-Generation Loudness Control), providing more precise and flexible audio level management.
- Improved RTP input switching, allowing smoother transitions between live audio sources.
- More flexible PTP clock synchronization, ensuring better timing accuracy in networked environments.
- General enhancements to HLS and DASH support, improving stability and playback performance.
- Expanded ad-insertion capabilities, giving broadcasters more control over targeted advertising and content monetization.
aixtream 3.10 is now available to all existing customers.
